Giambattista Valli is known for his ruffles, floor-length gowns, breathtaking silhouettes and princess-like shapes. However, his Fall 2018 collection took a different turn and consisted of more separates, casual lines, layering and a range of micro-floral prints.

The color spectrum included aubergine purple, oxblood, black, grey, red, and hints of metallic. Valli drew inspiration from 70’s Victoriana, travel, and escapism. Take the grey checked pantsuit, layered over a turtleneck and under a patent padded red jacket, with a neckline pouch – an airport ensemble perhaps? Or how about the mustard textured floor-length coat, with rust-colored dress donning a high-neck and thong sandals – a look that could work for a culture trip.

Giambattista Valli did not, however, fail to feed our hunger for his regal dresses, and sent down a handful of signature styles to keep our addiction at bay. A standout piece, not to mention the show-closer was a mint green, 3D ruffled high-neck dress which could only be described as a plate of mille feuille.
